Three students were shot down in university of Calabar

About three students died out of gun shot in Calabar University.
According to aitonline the incident first took place at gate while the other were shot at library.

according to eyewitnesses who said the three students who lost their lives happen to be a members of rival cult groups.

One of the victims was shot dead at the university gate, while the others remaining two were shot down by unknown gunmen around the library complex in the university.

The cult fight, which had been ongoing within the university’s male hostel premises for some time, became violent over the weekend which led to the death of the three unidentified students.

After Confirmation of the incident, the cross river state police public relations officer, ASP Irene ugbo, said it is only one student that died while others were injured and the have been taken to hospital for proper treatment.

The police PROb said the state commissioner of police, hafiz inuwa gave an order mobile policemen (mopol) to be posted to the school places within the university to restore peace and safety of the university community including the students.

Meanwhile,the students union government of the institution has described the loss of students as a result of cult activities as unfortunate and implored all students within the campus to be security conscious and report any suspicious gatherings to the security unit of the university with immediate effect.
In a statement issued by the chief press secretary of the Students Union government, odey martins decried the closure of the university as a result of the incident.

The statement urged the school management to step up security around some strategic locations within the school premises.
